During our time maintaining social distancing, Absolute Zero has been encouraging young students in robotics to persist in solving their EV3 challenges. We are conducting an unofficial World Robotics Olympiad competition for 2020 planned for June 7th, 2020 for both the Elementary and Junior WRO categories.
The rules that we have put together for the competition can be found here.
For our unofficial competition, we have eliminated the randomization element of each categories’ challenge to allow teams to focus on a single program that they can put their best work in. Teams additionally are not required to disassemble their robot, allowing them to rather focus more on programming.
In the 4 weeks prior to the competition, we held workshops for the competition. In these workshops, we discussed game strategies and answered participants’ questions. The workshop presentations have been streamed on YouTube, and can be found using this link.
On Sunday, June 7th, Elementary challenge participants will begin at 1:30pm and will conclude at 2:15pm. Junior challenge participants will begin at 2:30pm and will conclude at 3:15pm.
