MineFaire Expo 10/6/2018
Our Team was invited to the MineFaire EXPO second year in a row and were asked to talk about First programs and we showcased our robot. We let kids play with our demo which could work for the challenge from last year, which many students were interested in. We also let kids play robot soccer with several mBots. In addition, we taught kids how to program EV3 robots. Many students who showed interest for this were also interested in FLL programs and we were able to raise awareness for the program.
Onbot Java Presentation at ECPI University 10/8/2018
We were given the opportunity to teach new FTC teams about Onbot java programming. This was a great opportunity for our team to give back to the community that has been very beneficial for us. This was also a great experience in terms of mentoring FTC teams. We learned a lot about how to help other teams and applied what we learned when we mentored FTC teams over the course of the season.
Star Wars Reads 11/3/2018
We worked with FLL team Cascades Thunderbots to generate interest for this event. We held a scrimmage at this event and also let kids drive out demo robot. In addition, we had a set-up so interested students could learn EV3 programming. We had a facebook live during the event to generate interest on social media and inform viewers of different types of events we hold to encourage them to come to some in the future. At this event, we were approached by some engineers who didn’t know about the FIRST program, so we were able to raise awareness in the professional STEM community at this event.
FLL Refereeing 11/10/2018
3 members from our team were referees at the Mary Ellen Henderson FLL Regional Competition.
